Opening hours 

The museum and the North Sea aquarium are daily opened 

From 10:00 am to 05:00 pm in the summer time 

From 11:00 am to 05:00 pm in the wintertime 

Exceptions: 

First Christmas day and the 31st of December are we closed 

The first of January are we opened from 12:00 pm to 05:00 pm 

  

Admission fees 

Entrance to the Museum and the North Sea Aquarium include a guided tour (see guided tours at the bottom of the page) 

Adults: € 8,- 

Children 4/12 years: € 6,- 

Children 0/3 free entrance 

Seniors 65+ € 7,-

Season tickets (one year) 

Children 4/12 years: € 15,- 

Adults: € 20,-

Guided tours 

A visit tour fortress Kijkduin is more fun and exciting with a tour of one of our guides! Learn all about the fortress and its history. Who used to live here? What was the purpose of the fortress? What was the reason to build the fortress? 

  

Our guides tells you everything you want to know! The tours are offered at scheduled times and you can just join a tour!  

Tours with a private guide costs € 20,- 

  

Times of the tours: 

During the weekends at 11:00 am, 01:00 pm and 03:00 pm

On weekdays and excluding school holidays at 01:00 pm 

Guided tours are available but only if our guides are present. 

 

Accessibility  

Fortress Kijkduin Huisduinen is near Den Helder. You can easily reach the museum by bike through the dunes. Also, there are (free) parking spaces at the fortress.

During the summer, you can easily visit us with the Kustbus. 

 

Tip: fortress Kijkduin is located in the dunes. From the fortress, you can go for various walking and cycling routes through the dunes of Den Helder.
